A Day on the Green, New Faces, and Lessons We’re Taking Forward May 16th

This past Saturday at Market on the Green in Historic Old New Castle was one for the books.

It was warm—very warm (hello, 80 degrees)—but Ember & Etch showed up, settled in, and had one of our most memorable market days yet.

From the moment the day began, the Green was alive.

Historic charm.
Period clothing.
Reenactments.
Families exploring.
New faces.
Familiar faces.
And a whole lot of meaningful conversations.

There’s something special about being surrounded by so much history while sharing what we’ve been building with our own hands.

The Best Part? The People.

We met so many new people this weekend.

People stopped, looked, asked questions, shared stories, and truly connected with what Ember & Etch is becoming. We heard so much positive feedback about our setup, our pricing, and the warm, welcoming energy we’re working hard to create.

And that means everything.

We also received a few custom orders—something we’re incredibly excited about as we continue growing not just as a market booth, but as a creative space for meaningful, personalized pieces.

What Sold Out?

A few clear favorites emerged:

Beach-themed boards

Historic courthouse boards

Both were a huge hit… and both sold out.

Seeing people connect with pieces inspired by local nostalgia, Delaware charm, and meaningful places reminded us exactly why we love creating one-of-a-kind designs.

Candle Update: We Have a Front Runner 👀

Right now, Sweet Orange & Chili is leading the pack.

Without question, it’s quickly becoming one of our standout scents—and after this weekend, we know we need to make more.

Real Talk: It Was Also Hard.

This market was a big one.

For Sheryl, this was the longest day she’s worked since cancer last year.

And while it was exciting, validating, and absolutely worth it… it was also exhausting.

There were multiple moments throughout the day where rest was necessary. Moments to pause. Sit. Reset.

Cancer changes more than people realize, and rebuilding stamina is still part of this journey.

But showing up?
That mattered.

Pushing through?
That mattered.

Being there, creating, connecting, and proving to ourselves that Ember & Etch can keep growing—even through the hard parts—mattered most of all.

What We Learned

Every market teaches us something.

This one made a few things very clear:

We’re bringing more boards.

They continue to be one of our strongest categories.

Coasters may be taking a back seat.

After two events with slower coaster sales, we’re paying attention and adjusting.

Setup tweaks matter.

Each show helps us refine flow, display, and what catches people’s attention most.

And that’s the beauty of building something in real time—you learn, you adapt, and you keep improving.

Moving Forward

This weekend reminded us that Ember & Etch is more than products.

It’s conversation.
It’s connection.
It’s local memory.
It’s gathering.
It’s resilience.

We’re still learning.
Still refining.
Still growing.

And while Saturday left us sun-soaked, tired, and completely wiped out… it also left us inspired.

So thank you to everyone who stopped by, supported us, shared kind words, entered our giveaway, or brought a piece of Ember & Etch home.

We’re building this one market, one moment, and one meaningful connection at a time.

And we’re just getting started.
